The Woman Behind Rosewood Pyrography - Mel Dewson

It all began as a therapeutic crafting hobby, that I did from my basement. I experimented with the hobby of woodburning by creating some gifts for friends. I learned how to refinish furniture, so I added that into my designs.

My friends were so receptive to my work, that they suggested I start selling it. I didn't want to at first, because I wasn't confident in myself. I still had to experiment with different mediums, clear coats, and techniques for burning. It took about 2 years of indulging into my passion, to become confident in my work. I now want share my passion, talents, creativity, and my heart with others. Creating a piece that others can fall in love with, is my goal as an artist.

About My Art

All my items are 100% hand burned by me. You can see my burning process in the video on the home page.

If you are looking for a completely custom piece to be made, please do not hesitate to contact me through any of my social media, or with the contact form you can find under 'contact us'

*Quotes and prices vary on custom work, this is due to the nature of the design, and burn detail. (more labour/time for extremely detailed burns). Additional charges apply for stain and clear coatings. These charges also vary depending on the size of the piece.

*Lead times are longer for pieces that require clear coatings, as I apply several coatings to the entire piece to ensure it's fully sealed.
